Meet our Founder
Iris Queen, MSW, LSWAIC
Iris Queen is the founder of Root-based Healing. A clinical social worker, originally from the Washington D.C. area, Iris relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2024 and opened Root-based Healing in the spring of 2025.
Professional Background
A licensed psychotherapist, Iris’s professional experience spans nearly 30 years across the fields of human services and behavioral healthcare. Iris’s background includes work in child welfare and advocacy; inpatient and outpatient psychiatric settings; mental health court program coordination and judicially supervised treatment oversight; instruction and curriculum development in allied human services and addictions counseling; and clinical consultation.
Beyond the practice.
Beyond clinical practice, Iris is actively engaged in the development of an evidence-based trauma-responsive treatment model, clinician training program, and companion journal to support deeper understanding of trauma and its impact.
